I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when Simon gave Season 8 contestant Matt Giraud the highest praise possible last night when he was compared to Season Five Winner Taylor Hicks! Wow! Imagine that! Taylor's worst critic finally seeing the talent it took to win the show 3 years ago. After all, Taylor outlasted and kicked to the curb the following people from AI5 - Bucky Covington, Kellie Pickler, Chris Dewtry, Elliott Yamin, Paris Bennett, Katharine Mcphee, Ace Young, and Mandisa. Quite a group of singers that fell victim to the dynamics of Taylor Hicks! And didn't Season 5 garner the highest ratings in the 8 year history of the show so far? And wasn't the Season 5 tour the biggest grossing AI tour EVER?If Matt becomes half the singer, performer & drop dead hunk of gorgeous man that Taylor is, then he should breeze into the winner's circle with ease come May.
Glad you finally see the light, Simon Cowell, and I hope Matt kicks ass this season.

I also heard that, but I wasn't sure he wasn't being sarcastic. I would have taken it as a compliment because of Taylor's win. But coming from Simons mouth I wouldn't think he really meant it to be good.
Did he like Matt's performance? I'll have to go back and watch.
I heard that, but my favorite this year is Adam. He doesn't sing like Taylor, or look like Taylor, but he does have things in common with Taylor. He is gorgeous (in a different way than Taylor)has killer eyes and most important loads of talent and charisma. He has that same own the stage star quality. Matt's music style may be the same as Taylor's but thats where the similarities end IMO.
Simon is an ASS! PERIOD.
He meant that as a put down to Matt-Simon does not like Taylor at all.
Again, Taylor Hicks won Season 5, so being compared to him would thrill me - Taylor is the most talented winner or contestant ever to pass through this show. Again I hope Matt kicks ass this year.
Cowells comment about Matt was a diss about moving too much like Taylor. Rember season 5 -this is a singing competition not a dance competition. This year is primarily a commercial appeal competition secondary is singing.Start on page 190 and 191 of Taylors book to more understand their feeling toward him can"t start a union. JIRO
