Will Taylor Hicks Stay with Broadway's *Grease* Until Christmas?

Well, according to this Broadway blog, it seems the producers of the Broadway show *Grease* would like nothing more than to entice Taylor Hicks to stay until the end of the year in his role as the 'Teen Angel'. I'm not sure how I would feel about that. I mean, he's been getting rave reviews and the show has been a near sellout all summer - mostly due to Taylor - and it's given him many kudos and praise from everyone from casual theater goers, to American Idol fans, to music fans to the New York Press.

But then, I know he's itching to get back on the road with his band and more importantly, getting that much promised new CD and DVD (Whomp At The Warfield) out in the Fall - a CD/DVD that is anxiously anticipated by all of his fans. Hmmm! What to do! All I know for sure is that Taylor will make whatever decision is best for him and his music and his fans.

"....The hit Broadway revival of Grease has had a summer wind-fall blowing in the form of Taylor Hicks. The natural crowd-pleaser has captured the hearts and imaginations of fans around the world, and Hicks has turned the Broadway production into his own personal playground, as he arrives in a cone and leaves with kudos. The Broadway newcomer is set to be in the show until September 7. Well, now is the time for the talks to begin and speculation is that Hicks would be a huge windfall if he stays through the Holiday season. The show’s new stars Derek Keeling and Ashley Spencer have also proven that they have more than what it takes to rock Broadway. The energy and enthusiasm in the audience and on the stage is exciting, and if we were to wager on this, we’d say that Hicks will be back for more…but that is only an informed guess. Of course, we also thought that 95.5 WPLJ would sponsor a free concert with American Idol finalist Eliott Yamin at Rye Playland on August 7th…oh wait, they are. Taylor let us know if you are going to stay...."

As much as I believe that Taylor did the right thing by accepting the role. I feel he should only stay until Sept.

His reasons for taking the role have been accomplished. To quote him " I didn't have any juices" Well he definitly has the juices flowing now.

I could see why they want him to stay until Xmas. The revenue he has been bringing in.

I guess if he could still get his cd recorded, get the WATW dvd out, etc that would be okay. But he stated in an interview that I watched that he is totally in to music and touring.

I guess only Taylor knows what will be best for him. He hasn't let us down yet.

I'm behind you Taylor whatever decision you make.

I don't think he will stay until Christmas. He really wants to get back to his music.

Nice to hear he is wanted to stay on. That alone can be used for some good publicity.

I LOVE the attention and adoration that "Grease" has given him. I hope all the a**holes at AI are aware of the news of this & ALL the amazing reviews he's received from the start. Choke on that Simon!! Same to you Randy and Paula, and the rest. Please let that show go down in flames! I'll never watch it again! I never did actually, before Season 5. Taylor got me, and vice versa.

The only thing I want to watch is Taylor's career skyrocketing into the stratosphere. He's a superstar with no limits. I'm so happy for him and eagerly look forward to next week's release of EW, as well as the new CD, and even more so, to hold an actual copy of the WATW DVD! It's just a keeper.

Taylor is a smart man and whatever choice he makes, I'll support. They do say it's great to leave when you're on top and leave them waiting for more.

Personally, I'd like him to finish the run, complete his releases he has scheduled for the Fall, and maybe return to Broadway for a short while as a "Special Engagement". I think he would love to get back on the road again. I know I want that myself, and I doubt I'm alone.

Taylor, plan your strategy, but always remember that we'll always be here for you. You're the best thing around and you'll ALWAYS be supported.
The SP LOVES U, MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they offer him "lots of money" to stay...just think of the musicians he could have on the CD and Tour....Whatever Taylor decides, it is good enough for me...I'm not going anywhere...

I think Daughtry's head has gotten a little bit smaller lately, maybe it should be deflated a little...LOL! All the fairs that he has been doing must be fun...after all...he is nothing more than a carnival act...he could actually do two jobs there. He could be the man with the biggest baldest head. I would love to see it explode...POP goes the weasel! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Next...I understand that there are those that want to see Taylor on the road again...and they want to hit that tour in their nearest town. I am one of them...however, This is all about Taylor. If he hits the silver screen...I will be there to watch and swoon and thud. Whether he stays on Broadway or not...is not an issue with me...because he always makes the correct decision...the man has smarts and he is finally getting good advice from HIS people rather than being sabatoged. So...let it be. Listen for the news of his next choices...and do the unconditional fan thing...I think Taylor called them Die Hard Fans. That's me. All the way baby!

I agree. Taylor IS a very smart man and will make the right decision, as he has since the beginning. I think his people are doing right by him and will be there to help in guiding his career even further. He's always been a SUPER STAR in my book!

Being a die hard fan myself (ask my friends), I do know that the west coast has missed him VERY much.
We are fine with any decisions he makes, but his return here will definitely be one of celebration!

Taylor should do whatever he wants. He never said as Trixi quotes him as saying he chose to do Grease because he didn't have any juices. Reportedly he said something similar in response to a fan question "when can we expect your cd". Don't put quotes in Taylor's mouth that he never said.

the last poster...You got that right. Taylor is doing Grease because he wanted to...he was advised to do it by his powerful and positive "PEOPLE"...he is also doing it because it has been an explosion of media attention...it has brought him NEW fans, and people that could not seem to find him after AI...now, know where he is...he is doing Grease because he enjoys a new challenge...I could go on and on...it also could bring him an acting career. I always thought he would be great on the silver screen. That statement that he did it because of the juices is nonsense...and it was taken and twisted all over his fansites...just more negative bullshit. Taylor would not have an apartment and designer coming in to decorate just to stay there till September...maybe he has another broadway show in the makes...whatever his reasons...we as fans need to learn that we can talk about what we would like...however, we should ultimately trust him and go with his decisions...it is HIS LIFE...and HIS CAREER...He is living in NewYork one of the most exciting cities on the planet. Stars are not hounded like in other places...therefore a natural migration there...plus, a great place to do just about anything with your career...if you have the talent...Don't think anyone here even realizes how much talent Taylor has...he has only shown us a snippet. He is a gifted and hopefully celebrated man...I am not giving conditions on the man, he is not my friggin husband.

BLONDEBABE...a celebrity in my own right...LOL...JK

Blondebabe... when did you become know all about Taylor? You seem to insinuate that you know personally why Taylor took the role. The juices comment was not meant in a negative way. In my opinion, and my opinion only, Taylor wasn't getting any publicity until he took the role. I was only quoting Taylor from a first hand experience that a fan had with a back stage meet and greet. I do not think for Taylor or even try to.

How does having a condo and getting it decorated mean that he will be staying on Broadway? Maybe he just wants to live in New York. A little assumption here on your part?

Also I'm glad to hear that you are the only one who realizes how much talent he has.

No wonder your a celebrity in your own mind.

To the anonymous poster that says this quote is his response from a question that was asked, when is your cd going to be out. It is actually from a question that was asked about why he was doing Grease. The fan asked "What the F@#k were you thinking." You can go to the Season of the Soul blog and get the exact story from the fan it was told too. Maybe I should have quoted the fan and not Taylor....

Trixi, You really need to learn to read more carefully. If you go back and read wonder's blog , you will read he said nothing after her rude comment aboud Grease, and only made a face. He said nothing in response to her comment . They gave him gifts, got things signed, put on clown noses and posed for 3 pictures. They were leaving at the door when she asked him "when can we expect the CD". She said he said he ran out of juice, talked about AI, Xmas deadlines , other offers, and lots of you knows, and being independent with time frame for an album. A few days later Wonder fanticized in her mind that out of juices was his response to her Grease rude statement. I'm sorry for you and the others who could not read her blog correctly, and got swept up in her fantisy. I feel most sorry for Tay who told the press over and over he loved doing Grease, the role was perfect for him, and stated over and over again what fun it was to press and fans. Have you not heard him say he'd like to explore other acting roles, or say he is an entertainer. I feel sorry for him because some foolish blogger said she thinks he did Grease because he ran out of juice, and the people like you go and start quoting him as saying that is why he choose to do Grease. Do not put quotes in Taylor's mouth. You may if you so choose continue to read that blog , and Wonder's fantasies of believing she can read Taylor's mind, and can even enjoy her telling him she thought he was out of his f ing mind. You cross the line when you go and quote Tay saying something he never said. When you read you need to separate fact from fiction, as well as begin to read more carefully.

I read into the juice comment that the "juice" meant publicity was waning and he needed to get his name back out there. Not that he was losing it. It is very true that his publicity wasn't as strong as it used to be. So by doing Grease he gets his name back out there. Never did I read into it that Taylor hisself was running out of juice.

You are assuming once again that what Wonder wrote was a fantasy. She tried to relay in her own words what she felt Taylor was saying to her. Was it exactly what Taylor meant? No ones but Taylor. You seem to be in the minority of people who feel what she wrote was negative. To me it made perfect sense. He did it of course because he wanted to, but also to keep his name out there and on people's mind.

Just my opinion.....

Mellow out ladies. I don't think Taylor would appreciate the drama. Save it for your mama.
