American Idol 7 A Bore - Bring Taylor Hicks Back!

I'm terribly sorry, but I'm watching this year's crop of wanna-be's on American Idol and so far it's a terrible bore. Yawn!! Let's be honest - it just is. Yea, you've got the first potential teeny-bopper AI winner in your mist with David Archuleta. He's does nothing for me musically, but I KNOW the teen girls will love this young boy. You got the overhyped Michael Johns and the failed recording artist Carly Smithson. Oh boy.

And then there's Amanda Overmyer who is the only slightly interesting person to me just because she's different and I respect people who try to stand apart from the mainstream pop field. I doubt she'll last too long though. Nigel will make sure of that, unfortunately. The rest of the field you can have. They are all totally forgettable.

Perhaps one of you guys can wake me up when somebody this season rips a performance like Season 5 Winner Taylor Hicks did in one of the show's best - the week he grabbed Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness" by the throat and delivered like no-one's business. I do believe he actually impressed Simon with this. I know Simon would refuse to admit to this today, but the film doesn't lie.

Let's look at this performance from one of the most talented, if not THE most talented artists ever to come out of that show - someone who knew how to grab an audience by the balls and not let go:

Is it just me or are a couple of the guys crybabies? They boo hoo at the drop of a hat. Quick somebody get them a pacifier! They better stiffen up if they want to make it in the cutthroat music business. I know they are young but would they be able to take the the horrific crap that Taylor has had to put up with?

Griz, once again you've hit the nail on the head. This is the best bunch of singers they've ever had? I can't hardly remember any of their names. No one has given me goosebumps yet. I just watched the Taylor vid...GOOSEBUMPS!!!

I know Amanda is trying to stand out from everyone...but her hair the other night made me think of the bride of Frankenstein!!

It does seem by the end of the elemination show...everyone is crying..give me a break.

I wonder if AI will ever realize that season 5 was the best and they will never be able to match that talent again.

I've Boycotted AI because of their treatment of Taylor but I have listened to the songs on Rickey..out of curiosity. I like Amanda the best, David has a good voice too and I think he's got a lot of potential.

There will NEVER be another Taylor Hicks. No one can steal the hearts of people the way he did.

I just can't enjoy AI anymore after how they treated Taylor. I'm not watching.

You're not missing much pamela. Knowing what I know now about their total and complete disregard for their Season 5 winner, it soured the show for me too.

It's okay - I'm totally convinced Taylor will survive with or without their help. He's on a different path now. Just hang tight until the next real album comes out. I think we're in for a HUGE treat!

I keep waiting for someone to light my fire (like Taylor did) but not much happening, I did get alittle spark this week with David Hernadez performance, I didn't like him much the first week but this week he was memorable which is saying something for this year. Oh I forgot this is the best year evah...........What a joke.

I have not found anyone really thrilling this year either, though Amanda bears watching, and I am extremely doubtful that she will go far...

I did text vote twice each for the next-to-last-3 guys [Chikeze, David Cook(?), Jason Yeager(?)] & but NOT David Archuleta...

I have been educating my friends about Carly, David A., & Michael, and they are finding that info MOST interesting, and extremley surprised that other than Carly, AI has not said ANYTHING about the guys...

All-in-all, I am finding this season to be more interesting than LAST year, but ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WILL EVER COMPARE TO AI-5!!

AI-5 had me sitting on the edge of my chair EACH WEEK during the results shows, but during AI-6 [IMHO], the most exciting thing that happened was when Melinda got eliminated, which only caused me to sit up straight, and not lazily lounge in my chair...

"'The most talented group EVAH!'" Uh-huh... Yeah, right... Tell that to someone who cares...

I just cannot bring myself to watch this year. AI has been so disrespectful to Taylor that I just can't stomach watching their crap. Too bad, I used to love watching in the past. From all I have read about this season this far - it seems to me that Taylor is the last and only good singer/artist/performer that has come from this "it's all about the money" bullshit crappy ass show.

NO AI for moi. Period.

I won't watch AI again, but I appreciate you giving us a report.
I've been enjoying your site - thanks, griz!

No Idol for me either. Screw that show for how they have treated Taylor.

American Idol? I'm Over It. It ended last year - for the reasons so many have stated. I used to love the show - they had the most wildly popular, talented, and charismatic winner in Season Five they've EVER had, and all they've done since the tour that year ended is try to sweep him under the rug.

A pox on AI PTB - you lost your last shred of credibility last year.
