Taylor Hicks Gets Exhibit at Alabama Music Hall of Fame

Taylor Hicks will get his very own display at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, the same organization that bestowed an American Music Award on him just last month. This display will include items from Taylor's own personal collection including the infamous purple velvet jacket he wore on the final night of competition between he and Katharine Mcphee back in May of 2006. It also will include the paisley shirt he wore when he sang "Play That Funky Music White Boy" and various instruments donated by his supporters. Family members, including Taylor's beloved grandmother, Ms. Joni Hicks will be in attendance.

Admission is $8 and includes a tour of the museum. The unveiling is scheduled between 10:00-10:30am on Saturday, May 10, 2008.

I just could NOT be happier for Taylor with the way Alabama is showing this love for him. Nobody deserves it more!

I am going to Alabama in May, and I am hoping I have the chance to go and see THE PURPLE JACKET..and the PTFMWB shirt! LUV IT, and I hope the "shoes" are there too!!!

I did the DEMAND IT for Taylor here on your blog.......and I have ONE of my own out there to bring Taylor to New Jersey, so I hope to get some adds on there. It's on my MYSPACE, but WHO looks there? lol

GREAT JOB as usual Griz, keeping it real, and keeping all the positive things out there! LUV YA!

Let's not forget to mention the Harmonica Jam workshop sponsored by BluzKat that takes place after Taylor's unveiling. That is from 11:00-12:00 and benefits the AMHOF.

This project is the FIRST harp workshop dedicated to Taylor with plans for more around the country.

This whole package really puts Taylor's spirit into these events and proves that he continues with his mission in bringing the music to the kids.

Job well done Bluz and Taylor both!

I doubt that Taylor will be there. What do you think, Griz? It might be something to go to when something else isn't going on at the same time. Also, when it's not crowded, for sure. That purple jacket is definately a keeper.

I wouldn't doubt anything at this point. Taylor will be in the Birmingham area that week.

The event is now officially up on the Fame site if you care to check it out!

WAY TO GO TAYLOR!

anon - Dunno if Taylor will be there. I suspect if he's IN the area he would drop by, but I think he's quite busy with this album stuff, so that might be taking up most of his time. It would be great tho, eh!

I think this exhibit is wonderful and I plan on being there. If Taylor shows that's an added bonus.
