There's been a lot of excitment lately about Taylor's new album and the songs he's writing for it and the people he's collaborating with. I thought it would be interesting to go back and look at 2 GoFish videos he did a while back about this very topic. Every little tidbit about the writing process is so interesting to me. I can't wait to see what he comes up with! Enjoy!

griz, I had written this on the BB the other nite...he said he had 30 songs to choose from about 3 weeks ago...so I think the end of the song writing process is near..YEA...When he gets into the studio to record, I guess he records most of those songs and then chooses which ones go on the album...It really must be hard to narrow down what gets left on the studio floor...and wouldn't it be neat if we could hear what is thrown away??
It has been 17 mos since we heard NEW music from Taylor and it its getting so hard to wait a couple of months more...I hope he does let us hear some songs he is working on soon...(maybe Rick & Bubbas)...
sidenote...I had checked out Carrie U on CMT and ran across news of her starting her vocals last year for Carnival Ride..She started on April 17, 2007 (plus she said they had all the songs written and they just had to narrow them down for the album) but anyway the album was released October 23, 2007...(this sounds like a good time range that could possible fit Taylors' position...just a thought)...Imagine 6 MONTHS to record and mix instead of 6 WEEKS...
Bet'cha Taylor would say "It's 'cool' to be in charge of the process" and do it his way!
Excitement is building. :)

I haven't watched the GoFish videos in a long time. I thought Taylor's answer on the second video was very interesting. He felt like it was easier to have an MP3 sent to him and then have a chance to be "alone" with the music. It sounds like he needs solitude to write, which may be why he didn't do a lot of writing during the AI tour or the 2007 tour. Of course I'm just guessing, it could that it all depends on the situation.
I agree with you Tish. Taylor gave us a little peek into how his muses work. Here is a link to a song writing web site that came to be through a Google Alert. It is ver interesting to a layman like myself. Who knew it was all about the woman???

I'm more than excited for the new CD to drop!! I'm like a kid waiting for Chritmas..hehe..
Great Blog! I really enjoy this site. Thanks!!
Yea, the built up anticipation for this CD is way stronger than it was for the Clive-made CD (and I thought THAT was anticipated!). I guess cuz of the way he transformed the songs from the CD into the stage show - ala The Maze - the thought of him having total control of these songs is pretty awesome! I sure hope we get a taste of what he's working on before the album comes out on his myspace or THHQ! Hurry up Taylor! No wait - take your time. No! Hurry up! GAH!!! LOL!
Geeze, I meant to type Christmas.. I was very tired...haha
